Raising Capital

We advise and assist social purpose enterprises to raise capital, with a focus on matching to impact investors who take a thematic and direct interest in the underlying business activity. Central to this is a clear articulation of impact goals and a commitment to ongoing non-financial reporting to investors. We advise on alternative strategies for fundraising, including debt and equity, product structuring and the preparation of marketing documents. We also market transactions to our international network of impact investors. Our ambition is to achieve a full alignment between investor and investee, with those organisations that outperform against their social or environmental targets being rewarded by a reduction in their cost of capital.

Investor Engagement

Engaging with investors

IFG engages with an array of investors, including fund managers, family offices, foundations, private banks, HNWIs, private wealth managers and social investors. With a wide investor network of institutional investors and routes of entry into the pension fund market, IFG is in a strong position to help social purpose organisations with their capital raising objectives. These investors are all interested in employing a proportion of their capital to generate social impact alongside earning a financial return. This reflects the rapidly increasing interest in social finance amongst the wider investor community.

Product Structuring

Product structuring

We develop innovative blended return products for the social investment market, based on our detailed understanding of charities and social enterprises’ needs and investment criteria corresponding to our network of aligned investors. Our speciality is structuring debt, with different layers of risk and return, tailored to specific investors who seek impact with financial return. We played a central role in structuring the Arts Impact Fund, a £7m fund that leveraged a first-loss grant with money from foundations and a major US bank, have developed a note product to support the provision of trade finance to SMEs in Sub-Saharan Africa and continue to explore mechanisms to catalyse the social bond market. We strive to identify unique opportunities to structure impact investment products across new geographies and sectors.
